FAMEL ZX 01 é o resultado final da Dissertação de Mestrado em Design na Universidade de Aveiro. A proposta usufrui do novo paradigma de motorização elétrica e constitui uma reflexão morfológica de desenho, ensaiando a reabilitação da indústria portuguesa de motorizadas a partir da memória Famel. Projeto desenvolvido com o apoio da marca Famel.

FAMEL ZX 01 is the final result of a Master's Design Thesis at the University of Aveiro. The proposal takes advantage of the new paradigm of electric motorization and constitutes a drawing morphologic reflexion, rehearsing the restoration of the Portuguese motorcycle industry through the Famel memory. Project developed with the support of the Famel brand.

Contexto | Context

Na cultura material portuguesa há inúmeros modelos de motorizadas que marcaram o século anterior, e que mesmo após o seu desaparecimento comercial permanecem vivos na memória coletiva da sociedade. Nos últimos vinte e cinco anos do século passado, fruto de um forte constrangimento às importações nacionais, desenvolveu-se em Portugal uma indústria de produção de velocípedes a motor e motociclos, quer sob licença de marcas estrangeiras, quer por desenvolvimento de marcas próprias. Da extensa coleção de artefactos construídos, distinguem-se pela sua eficiência e velocidade as motorizadas Famel XF 17 e SIS Sachs V5.

Com a abertura ao mercado mundial e o progressivo incremento do nível de vida da sociedade portuguesa, a indústria dos veículos motorizados de duas rodas acabaria por manifestar insustentabilidade económica, sofrendo paulatinamente a insolvência de todas as unidades. Do parque de mais de cinquenta indústrias hoje não resta qualquer memória.

O aparecimento do novo paradigma de motorização elétrica permitirá a emergência de novas soluções no mercado, usufruindo da pertinência ecológica dos novos meios e da débil concorrência das marcas estruturantes do paradigma anterior. Nesse sentido, o presente projeto constitui uma reflexão morfológica de desenho, ensaiando a reabilitação da indústria portuguesa de motociclos a partir da memória Famel.

In the Portuguese material culture, there are countless models of motorbikes who shaped the previous century, and even after their commercial disappearance, they are still alive in the society’s collective memory. In the last twenty-five years of the previous century, as a result of a strong constraint to national imports, an industry of production of motor velocipedes and motorbikes has grown in Portugal, either under licenses of foreign brands, or by the development of own brands. From the extensive collection of built artifacts, the motorbikes Famel XF 17 and SIS Sachs V5 stand out for their efficiency and speed.

With the opening of the global market and the gradual increase of the standard of living of the Portuguese society, the industry of two wheel motorized vehicles would end up showing its economic unsustainability, slowly experiencing the bankruptcy of all its units. There’s no memory left of the former group of more than fifty industries.

The emergence of a new paradigm of electric motorization will allow the rise of new solutions in the market, benefiting from the ecological relevance of the new means and from the weak competition of the pivotal brands of the former paradigm. In this regard, this project constitutes a drawing morphologic reflexion, rehearsing the restoration of the Portuguese motorbikes industry from the Famel memory.
