Natural Fibre Paddle
This project was the subject of my Master Thesis in Product Design. This was about working with materials application and the perception of people towards natural fibres more than to redesign a paddle in this case. I chose this product because I used practiced kayaking and the products on the market were not environmentally friendly. I started by conducting a questionnaire about what people knew about Natural Fibres(NF) and if they could embrace a product with such materials. After the results where analysed I knew I was on the right track so I started to gather the materials needed for the prototyping phases which were built at Elio during an internship.
I developed in total 18 prototypes with different mixes of materials and of different sizes, plus some material samples to be tested.The results where overall very positive and it could be concluded that NF could be a reliable substitute of synthetic fibres with the product that was created (Paddle).
