Diego (coffee machine)

The Diego project was projected for a coffee machine DeLonghi context happening in 2017. The objective of the contest was to create a new machine and through it translate the italian traditions and roots that the brand had in Italy. We started (me and my team) by doing a research about kitchens, how we move, their layout. Then we did a research about the appliances used in the kitchen and an analysis on coffee. We came up with these images for inspiration on the first idea we had. When we finally had our inspiration and an idea of the principles we would use, the first idea and 3d model emerged in what would be the first iteration of the product. The end result was a coffee machine completely different from everything on the market. The machine was to be built into the wall and directly connect to water and electricity from the main supply. We wanted to give to the client the sensation of being a real barista by moving horizontaly to make the coffee. Plus we wanted the machine (Diego) to look output for his owner's health. To achieve this we created an app that would connect to the owner's google calendar and advice on how to take is coffee having into account his medical condition and the advisable amount of caffeine recomended per day. During the development of this project I helped develop the application and the explanatory video we showed during our presentation which you can check in the button bellow.
