MANIFESTO ANTI-DANTAS

[ENG] Editorial design for an adapted and shortened version of Portuguese poet Almada Negreiro's manifesto against Júlio Dantas, a public figure of the time. The entire piece was written when the author was 23, and thus lacks any sort of filter in regards to how angry, frustrated, and occasionally childish it is. My interpretation of it stems from that feeling of witnessing a tantrum, almost audible in each disdain-riddled line.

It is required of the viewer to physically engage with the piece in order to read it. One must become an extension of the manifesto itself — the only way to access the contents of the booklet is by tearing it. Once ripped open, it is revealed the inside is littered with the word DANTAS in a repeating pattern, further amplifying Negreiro's feelings towards him.

[PT] Design editorial para uma versão adaptada do manifesto de Almada Negreiros contra Júlio Dantas, uma figura pública da altura. Toda a peça foi escrita quando o autor tinha 23 anos, e portanto não possui qualquer filtro em termos de quão irado, frustrado, e ocasionalmente imaturo é. A minha interpretação nasce assim da sensação de testemunhar uma birra, o desdém quase audível em cada linha.

Para ler o objecto, é necessário que o leitor interaja fisicamente com ele. Tem de se tornar uma extensão do manifesto em si — a única forma de aceder o conteúdo do mesmo é rasgando-o. Uma vez aberto, o interior revela um padrão com o nome de Dantas, amplificando os sentimentos de Negreiros em relação a este.
