The Chrysalis

Crisálida é o nome que eu escolhi para o meu projecto final ERASMUS +. Porquê? Podem perguntar! Porque a crisálida é o nome que se dá à lagarta que se transforma em borboleta. É o símbolo da metamorfose e é o que sinto quando penso na experiência dos últimos meses. 
Quando comecei a empacotar 3 meses da minha vida em Roma pensei “Aqui termina uma etapa e começa outra”. Como a crisálida que se transforma numa borboleta para que possa voar rumo a novos objectivos.
Receio esquecer alguém, por isso um agradecimento a todos e a todas as entidades envolvidas pela oportunidade que tive de crescer e aprender mais sobre mim mesma como pessoa e como indivíduo (mesmo que tenha sido apenas para perceber o que não quero de futuro). Quero deixar um agradecimento especial à ETIC e ao programa ERASMUS +, ao CESFOR e à ONDESIGN, meu local de estágio. Aos meus colegas que me acompanharam nesta aventura, aos meus amigos e pelo incondicional apoio dos meus pais. Sem eles nada disto teria sido possível.
Desenvolvi as minhas capacidades de pesquisa, aptidões em rebranding e descortinei apenas um pouco do que e design de produto, que tem bastante que se lhe diga.   
Nesta aventura criam-se laços. Há momentos de nostalgia, de risos e de tristeza. Há momentos que testam os nossos limites e outros em que nos surpreendem.
Roma é de uma gente que nos recebe sempre com um sorriso. Tem uma história incrível e a cada esquina, se soubermos ouvir, há sempre uma novidade a descobrir. A certa altura foge-se dos locais turísticos, para não perdemos a “magia” que eles nos transmitem quando os vemos da primeira vez. E foi nesses momentos de fuga, que tive oportunidade de conhecer uma outra Itália. Foi nesses momentos que me apaixonei pelo Maxxi de Zaha Hadid, uma mulher que admiro. Senti uma magia especial na “civita” de Bagnoregio que parecia suspensa no tempo. Fiquei fascinada com a loucura dos Jardins de Bomarzo e foi em Veneza que o talento dos artesaos me reavivou o sonho de la voltar no “carnavale”. 
Numa exposição da eterna Marilyn Monroe houve uma frase que irei levar comigo por esta vida fora. Dizia o seguinte: “This life is what you make of it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes. It’s a universal truth. But the good part is what you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always belive in yourself, because if you don’t, than who will sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly keep smiling, because life is a beautifull thing, and thers is so much to smile about!” Basicamente fala de coragem, de esperança e de acreditarmos em nos próprios. Por vezes custa fazer escolhas e tomar decisões que nos viram a vida do avesso. Esta foi uma dessas situações e não me arrependo em nada de a ter tomado. Com todos os sucessos e com todos os fracassos que possam advir dela.
Não será um adeus a Roma e a toda esta experiência que fará sempre parte de mim. Será um até sempre. Baci a tutti e grazie mile."

chrysalis is the name that I have chosen for my Erasmus + final project. Why can you ask. Because a chrysalis is the name you give to a grub before she transforms into a beautiful butterfly. It’s the symbol of the metamorphosis and it is what I fell that ERASMUS + program was for me.
When I have started to pack three months of my life in Rome I have thought “A  journey has ended and another one begins”. Like the chrysalis who turns into a butterfly so she can fly away towards new goals. 
I am afraid to forget someone, so I want to thank everyone and every entity in the program for the opportunity that I had to learn more about myself ant to grow as a person and as an individual (even if it was only to realize what I do not want in the future). I want to give a special thank to ETIC and the ERASMUS +, to CESFOR, to ONDESIGN, my internship place, to my room mates who accompanied me in this adventure, to my friends and for the unconditional  support of my parents. Without them none of this wold be possible
I developed my research skills, skills in rebranding and uncovered just a little of what  product design is, which has plenty to tell.
In this adventure bonds were created. There were moments of nostalgia, laughter and sadness. There were times when our limits are tested and others that surprise us.
Rome belongs to people who always greet us with a smile. It has an incredible story and at every corner, if we know how to listen, there is always something new to discover. At a certain point, we need to escapes from the tourist sites, so that we don’t lose the "magic" they transmit to us when we see them the first time. And it was in those moments of escape, that I had the chance to discover a hole other Italy. It was here that I fell in love with the Maxxi of Zaha Hadid, a woman whom I admire. I felt a special magic in Bagnoregio's "civita" that seemed suspended in time. I was amazed with the madness of the Bomarzo Gardens and it was in Venice that the talent of the craftsmen revived my dream of returning to the “carnavale”. 
In an exhibition of the eternal Marilyn Monroe there was a phrase that I will take with me for the rest of my life. She said: "This life is what you make of it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes. It's a universal truth. But the good part is what you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always belive in yourself, because if you do not, who will sweetie? It basically talks about courage, hope, and belief in ourselves. Sometimes it's hard to make choices and make decisions that turn our life inside out. This was one of those situations and I have no regret for having taken it. With all the successes and all the failures that may come from it.
I will never say goodbye to Rome and to this great experience because it will always be a part of me It’s a till the next time. Baci a tutti e grazie mile.
