Virgínia Quaresma
Virgínia Quaresma — timeless documents is an art installation that focus on one of the most important Portuguese journalist feminist of the 90s. With this project we wanted to pay an homage not just to her role as a feminist but to the way she did it trough the use of words.
A research was made on her publications, as well as on other texts from newspapers where she worked in the same period. We also looked for publications from the present day that could be related to the texts collected earlier and grouped them into themes. To give a little intel not only on who Virginia was, but also on what was like to be a feminist at the time, a series of photographs related to events in her life and events or milestones for feminism where collected. With this data, a chronological journal like sketch book was assembled.
Keeping in mind the idea of preservation of this author and feminist we’ve created a Medium where all the texts collected were published. This way the earliest texts were brought into the present and the ideals of Virgínia Quaresma, in a way, will always be preserved and perpetuated.
