Deep in a government warehouse, buried beneath all sorts of paper work (economic reports, cabinet meetings and a release form for one Elvis Presley in regards to his appearance as an extra in the film "Home alone") was a very curious diary with the title "My Journal of the Unbelievable" . In it, the unknown author gets tangled up in a global conspiracy with Men in Black, UFOs, cryptids and more.
"My Journal of the Unbelievable" consists of a short story accompanied by illustrations with the goal of beginning a franchise.
I won't bore you (too much) with the writing process. Suffice it to say that I did my research and established the main place of the narrative in Java, Indonesia. I studied its culture, flora and fauna.
Just for added realism I planned an actual trajectory for the trip.
I sketched out some quick ideas, thumbnails and all that could be of help in tackling the final illustrations.
After picking the most relevant and exciting parts of the text I got started on the drawings. To get the realistic sketchbook feel, I made illustrations with pen and ink. Afterwards, I digitized them and edited slightly in Photoshop.

After writing the text and making the illustrations, all that was left was to put the two together (adding some extra grime and texture along the way).
