This project explores the redesign of the visual identity for NABO, an independent Portuguese publishing house, with the goal of creating a more expressive, dynamic, and contemporary brand presence.
The concept is rooted in the idea that every book carries its own emotion, atmosphere, and narrative voice. Inspired by this, the logo was developed as a flexible visual system rather than a static symbol. Its form adapts and transforms according to the emotions and themes of the stories it represents, allowing the identity to evolve while maintaining strong brand recognition.
To complement the visual identity, a graphic pattern system was developed specifically for NABO’s book collection. Built from the shapes and transformations of the logo, the pattern acts as a flexible visual layer that can be adapted to each publication while maintaining a cohesive brand language.
Colour plays a central role in this system. Each palette is carefully selected to reflect the emotional tone of a book, allowing the visual identity to communicate feelings before the reader even opens the cover. Warm and vibrant colours can suggest energy, optimism, or adventure, while softer or darker tones may evoke introspection, mystery, nostalgia, or tension.
The website was designed as an extension of NABO’s evolving visual identity, translating the dynamic and expressive nature of the brand into a digital experience.
Following the same principles as the logo system and book patterns, the interface is built to feel flexible and alive. Graphic elements shift and adapt throughout the experience, creating a sense of movement that reflects the emotional variability of the books published by the brand.
