Doen is a project designed for the Parque Metropolitano zoo in Santiago, Chile. The behavior of the hamadryas baboons in captivity was studied for several weeks to gain understanding of their behaviors. Then their routines, habits and behaviors were contrasted with those expected from hamadryas baboons in freedom.

Among the most important differences found is the fact that these animals, when they are free, use most of their time looking for food, whether in trees, holes, or among stones. While in captivity the food is offered directly to them. The zoo staff spread fruits and vegetables on the floor, so it takes them only a few minutes to feed. In this way, the baboons have much more time to interact with each other, which often involves fights and aggression. In addition, they do not generate adequate cognitive or motor development, because they don't have to search, learn or develop specific skills.

Doen is a set of implements with multiple mechanisms of different difficulty to enhance the cognitive and motor development of hamadryas baboon at the time of feeding. They are organized in stages, so that the most difficult implements require prior learning and understanding of the lower levels.
