Projeto de Investigação | 2014 - 2015

A Tijomel foi uma fábrica de cerâmica de referência em Caxarias (Ourém), fechada desde 1992, que durante a sua actividade foi um exemplo industrial e socialmente, para o concelho e para o país. Foi considerada um “modelo social” pelas boas iniciativas que praticava; revolucionária no trabalho que fez, tendo algumas patentes nacionais de produtos inovadores e chegando até a representar Portugal em feiras internacionais da indústria cerâmica; e a sua obra foi construída lado a lado com alguns dos

grandes artistas, designers e engenheiros da época, e a sua alma está espalhada pelo país inteiro, de norte a sul.

Em conjunto com dois grandes amigos e designers, o Luis Freire e a Melanie Rodrigues, fomos em busca das memórias desta fábrica durante um ano, pois não existia qualquer documentação sobre este astro industrial oureense, e reunimos tudo numa exposição de 6 meses no Museu Municipal de Ourém. Para tal fizemos entrevistas, visitas a locais de interesse, pesquisa em arquivo e no terreno, e trabalhámos todos estes conteúdos de forma a trazer de novo à memória aquilo que outrora brilhava, mas que hoje estava apagado.

Uma das propostas de intervenção na exposição seria um filme documental sobre a fábrica, que viria a ser premiado com o “Grande Prémio António Campos”, da iniciativa CinAntrop zona centro.

O resultado foi muito positivo e compensador, pois conseguimos fazer o que ninguém tinha feito há quase 30 anos, de uma forma contemporânea e criativa, pró-activa e autónoma; e que resultou numa das exposições mais visitadas do museu até à data.

Em todo este ano de processo, fomos de tudo um pouco, designers, investigadores, coleccionadores, escritores, artistas e até mesmo realizadores.

Tijomel was a reference ceramics factory in Caxarias (Ourém), closed since 1992, which during its activity was an industrial and social example for the county and for the country. It was considered a "social model" for the good initiatives that it practiced; revolutionary in the work it did, having some national patents of innovative products and even representing Portugal in international fairs of the ceramics industry; and his work was built side by side with some of thegreat artists, designers and engineers of the time, and his soul is scattered throughout the whole country from north to south.

Together with two great friends and designers, Luis Freire and Melanie Rodrigues, we went in search of the memories of this factory for a year, since there was no documentation on this Ourean industrial star, and we gathered everything in a exhibition of 6 months in the Municipal Museum of Ourém. To do so we did interviews, visits to places of interest, archival and field research, and we worked all these contents in order to bring back to memory what once shone, but which today was erased.

One of the intervention proposals at the exhibition would be a documentary film about the factory, which would be awarded the "Grand Prix António Campos", CinAntrop initiative center zone.

The result was very positive and rewarding, as we were able to do what no one else had done almost 30 years ago, in a contemporary and creative, proactive and autonomous way; and which resulted in one of the museum's most visited exhibitions to date.

Throughout this year of process, we have been everything, designers, researchers, collectors, writers, artists and even filmmakers.
