“Improving Our Food System” was the theme of the Healthy Portugal Conference that took place on April 10th at the Capitol in Lisbon. This conference brought together experts from different areas around the food system: Health, environment, economics and politics were some of the sectors covered for the design of a healthier country strategy. This event, as part of the Mission Continent project, was based on a study commissioned by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which explores how food systems can combine environmental, economic and political objectives.

The results of this study report and a set of conversations on topics such as the benefit of a better food system for the national and local economy were presented.

Speakers included names such as Corinna Hawkes (University of London Center for Food Policy), Catarina Furtado (United Nations and Hearts with Crown), Carla Simões (Frutalvor), Henrique Gomes (Biofrade), João Ramos (Say Doctor RTP) , João Manzarra (Actor, healthy life promoter), Helena Real (Portuguese Nutrition Association), Ana Alves (Continente) and Ondina Afonso (EuroCommerce).
